Finally got bitweaver 2.1beta installed & running. If only my provider had announced that they'd added MySQL 5.0 (with InnoDB), much agony could have been avoided. I'll say this about 1and1, two menu options on the toll-free phone and I was talking to a live support tech. Basically near-zero wait time!

But I did go thru 4 different technicians before I got one who knew how to monitor the install script so we could find the problem.

Running under PHP 5.2.6, installation was as smooth as a babies bottom.

Well, yeah, sorta. My shared host is running linux, but I've got Windoze @ home, so rather than try to debug both OS's, I'm running the linux install 'live' in order to focus on getting that one in shape.

So, it's publicly accessible, but there's no real content, or any other tweaking (think style, layout, etc.) I just edited the wiki/welcome page so that if someone trips over it, they won't think it's worth bothering with right now.
